The line between real and artificial is becoming increasingly blurred.
– We intend to hold that line.
We believe that humans are not data to be scraped or assets to be simulated. They are unique, complex individuals that cannot be replicated by an algorithm. When synthetic models are created using real images without consent, it is not innovation – it is exploitation.
This movement defends ecosystems built on trust and connection. We are not anti-technology. We are for ethical progress that respects the rights, identities, and contributions of the talented people who bring visions to life. We believe that algorithms should not dictate beauty, define societal norms, or replace authenticity.
While AI-generated content raises a number of concerns, one of the most pressing is its contribution to promoting narrow and unrealistic beauty ideals –
standards that can deeply impact mental well-being, particularly for younger generations still shaping their sense of self and forming their self-image.
The fashion and creative industries have a powerful influence on how people see themselves and others. That is why true diversity, representation, and the visibility of human uniqueness matters more than ever. We stand for what cannot be generated: humanity, emotions, and the beautiful nuances of individuality.
At FAIRe, our rules are simple but essential. They are grounded in respect for human dignity, fairness, and ethical responsibility of all those who shape visual culture and media. As a movement, we advocate for a future where real people, not algorithms, lead the process of creative visuals. These are the rules applicable:
- Any entity within the modeling industry, including but not limited to modeling agencies, casting directors, photographers, models, creatives and clients, may become a member of this association.
- By joining the association, members commit to comply with the Terms and the rules.
- Members are responsible for ensuring that any and all use of AI in relation to models complies with the Terms.
- Members agree not to book models with clients who feature AI-generated models on their websites, unless such models are clearly disclosed as synthetic or artificial and presented solely as faceless avatars, in a manner that leaves no doubt about their artificial nature.
- The Terms may not be unilaterally amended by any member without prior submission for collective approval.
- In case a member does not adhere to the Terms it may be sanctioned. The sanctions are graduated according to the nature and scope of the violation. The usual process is as follows:
- Reprimand and warning
- Warning of exclusion and expression of criticism
-
Exclusion from the association, in which the following consequences will apply:
- Publication of the violator on the “black list” on the website of the association.
- Loss of the right to use the logo of the association.
